Le château du Hamel à Castets-en-Dorthe a été construit au XIVe siècle par Raymond Guilhem de Goth, neveu du pape Clément V, au bord de la Garonne. Il a ensuite été fortifié au XVIe siècle par Jean de Fabas puis rebâti à la fin du XVIIe siècle. D'après l'itinéraire emprunté par le Congrès, la photographie a été prise précisément le mercredi 7 juin 1939.
